This program prepares you for an entry-level position into the healthcare professions
as a pharmacy technician. Students will be trained in the technical aspects
of handling medications and work primarily with the drug product. Typical pharmacy
technician tasks may include: selecting, counting, and pouring prescription
medications; updating patient profiles and preparing prescription labels; assisting
with drug purchasing and inventory control; packaging medications in unit-dose
or med-card form; mixing intravenous solutions and other specialized medications;
and gathering data for pharmacists to use in monitoring drug therapy. On successful
completion of this certificate program, you will be eligible to take the National
Certification test and become a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT).

In addition to completing the course requirements above with a grade of "C"
or better, you must meet an academic requirement by one of the following methods:

Completion of ENG 100, Writing Fundamentals, or higher
with a grade of "C" or better.

EAC COMPASS writing placement score of 85 or higher entered
into your student record.

Completion of BUS 111, Business Mathematical Calculations,
with a grade of "C" or better.

Completion of MAT 120, Intermediate Algebra, or higher
with a grade of "C" or better.

EAC COMPASS mathematics placement score of 61 or higher
entered into your student record.
