Health and Physical Education Division
The Health and Physical Education Division promises a vigorous workout of both
mind and body.
You'll discover a fully-equipped Wellness Center and an array of sports facilities
that allow you to exercise your interests in a wide variety of areas.
Most importantly, however, you'll find a dedicated staff who has accumulated
over fifty years of teaching experience. Our instructors are highly active individuals
who constantly keep abreast of the newest trends and techniques in exercise
science and athletics.
Additionally, all of our teaching staff are intercollegiate coaches, making
for a well-rounded HPE program that goes hand-in-hand with the Athletic Department.
As a Physical Education major at Eastern, you'll take a variety of classes that
includes Personal Health, First Aid and Professional Activity classes. Electives
include Lifeguard Training, CPR and Sports Medicine.
Professional Activity classes ranging from Aerobics to Weight Training present
the opportunity to participate in the leadership of organized activities while
learning the skills involved.
And student trainers work with the varsity sports teams on their way to careers
in sports medicine, physical therapy and athletic training.
You have the choice of golf, racquetball, tennis, bowling and sport-specific
classes such as volleyball, football, softball, basketball and baseball. You'll
have access to:
- Six lighted tennis courts
- Four outdoor racquetball courts
- Outdoor running track
- Softball and baseball fields
- Football stadium
- Intramural fields
- Gymnasium for basketball and volleyball
- Free-weights room
- Heated swimming pool
- Wellness Center
