About the College

Eastern is Arizona’s oldest community college with approximately 1,500 full-time students on the main campus in Thatcher. Over 200 are athletes, the majority of whom live in on-campus residence halls. EAC fields teams in football, basketball (men’s & women’s), volleyball, softball, golf (men’s), tennis (women’s), and baseball.

Eastern is located in Graham County with a population of 35,000. The main campus is in the Gila Valley at the base of the beautiful Mt. Graham, a 10,720 foot peak. Principal economic activities in the area include farming, ranching, mining, governmental services, and higher education.

Recreational opportunities and facilities include swimming, skating, hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, biking, natural hot springs, golfing, equestrian sports, Discovery Park, and the Mt. Graham Observatory. Both the College and the community offer a wide variety of activities and cultural events.

About the Program

EAC softball has been in existence since 1978 and has recruited players from all over the United States as well as some foreign countries. EAC has a rich tradition of success both on and off the field. The softball team will typically carry up to 18 players which might include both scholarship players as well as walk-ons. Athletes in the softball program, like students in the other athletic teams at EAC, are prepared for graduation and transfer.

Softball Season

Eastern Arizona College’s Gila Monster Softball team competes in the NJCAA and is a Division I member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC). The ACCAC consists of 12 teams and has a Division I and a Division II Championship. Eastern plays up to a 60-game schedule including some non-conference opponents from Oklahoma, California, Kansas, Oregon, Texas and other states in tournaments. Playing in four tournaments a year, we have the opportunity to play against nationally ranked teams from all over the United States.
