What is Wellness?
Wellness is more than a workout-
it is a state of mind!
Exercise can be enjoyed. At the same time, you can achieve adequate fitness
and a style that may follow you throughout your lifetime. To achieve and maintain
fitness, you must exercise regularly. Exercise, combined with proper nutrition,
can lead to a more productive and enjoyable life. The EAC Wellness Center
staff will assist you in the opportunity to achieve the following:
- Development of attainable goals
- Reaching and enhancing those goals
- Creation of a wellness life-style
Registration Information
Participants are responsible for the section they sign up for. There are
four sections for the EAC Wellness Center each semester. The first section
is reserved for first-time participants. Please make sure that you are not
repeating a section. Refer to the class schedule for the proper code. It is
the responsibility of the student to fill out a drop/add slip and take it
to the Records and Registration Office if you are in the wrong section. Students
must be registered in "Physical Conditioning and Assessment" in
order to work out! An age restriction applies to anyone under the age of 13.
Assessment Procedures
The following steps are required:

- Be on time.
- Complete Department Pre/Post Tests.
- Fill in information completely and accurately. Incomplete forms
will not be accepted. Your information will assist the EAC Wellness
Center staff in the development of your program.
- Participate in: the Orientation lecture (approximately 20-30 minutes),
Film (approximately 15 minutes) and Testing (approximately 30-45
minutes). All times are dependent upon the size of the crowd.

Grading Policy
Each participant must demonstrate satisfactory progress in her/his workouts.
Workouts should be at least 30 minutes in length. Workouts of less than 30
minutes in length will not be accepted as a visit. Only one (1) visit per
day may be logged. A participant may stay as long as desired; however, a recorded
visit can be no longer than 180 minutes or 3 hours.
Grading two-credit class*
Grades are determined by participation, as follows:
A = 30 participating visits and an accumulation of 34 hours
B = 26 participating visits and an accumulation of 30 hours
C = 22 participating visits and an accumulation of 26 hours
D = 18 participating visits and an accumulation of 22 hours
F = Below 18 visits-regardless of the amount of hours
P = 20 participating visits and an accumulation of 20 hours
*Post-Test must be taken or your grade will be dropped one letter grade.
A participant will be dropped from the class if satisfactory progress is
not maintained. If you fall below 18 visits, you should withdraw yourself
from the class by Friday of the twelfth week of classes or completely withdraw
from school one week prior to the start of Final Exams, or you will receive
a failing grade.
Grade Changes
An appeal for a grade change will not be considered unless a petition for
same is filed with the Records Office within six (6) months of the close of
the semester in which the grade was received. This statement can be found
on page A55 of the General Catalog. Grades will not be changed after one (1)
complete semester. For example: a participant receives a grade of pass and
wants it changed to a letter grade. This must be processed before the next
full semester.
Each participant must be registered for the next semester in order to workout
during a school interim!
