THATCHER, AZ—The Education Department at Eastern Arizona College held a Spring Tea on Thursday, April 20 to acknowledge students for their efforts and to recognize two local area teachers for their mentoring of EAC students during classroom observations.
“All students enrolled in the Introduction to Education course must observe in area classrooms and our students elected these teachers as being very supportive,” stated EAC Education Faculty member JoAnne Ellsworth. Whitney Sonive from Safford Middle School and Roger Munoz from Thatcher Schools were awarded certificates and EAC cups to celebrate this recognition.
Stacie Barlow, unable to attend the event, was awarded the Arthur and Gwendolyn Eve Excellence in Education scholarship to pay for her substitute teacher certification. Stacie is currently a pre-school teacher and lives with her family in Duncan.
Nancy Forbes, a well known educator from the University of Phoenix, was the guest speaker at the tea. Ms. Forbes stressed the rewards of being committed to the idea that “one good teacher can change a child’s life forever.”
