in the lab.
1.
Visiting should be done elsewhere.
2.
Phones use must be taken out of the lab area
3.
Tutoring and study groups of no more than 3 students are allowed
to work together. You must inform
the desk if you want to work as a study group.
4.
NO GAMES, CHAT, OR INSTANT MESSENGER.
5.
NO PORNOGRAPHY AT ANY TIME!
One warning is given.
After the second infraction you could lose your privilege to use the
Media
Center
. Rules are posted; it is your
responsibility to read them.
The Internet is available for academic purposes.
1.
Only EAC students and adult community patrons (18 years and older)
will be allowed Internet use.
2.
Community patrons under the age of 18 may use the Internet ONLY if
they have an adult guardian with them (who also has a computer checked out next
to the minor).
3.
When the
Media
Center
is busy with term papers or classes, Internet use will be temporarily denied or
restricted.
4.
Headsets can be checked out for use with the Internet with sound
sites only on computers with a sound card.
Computers:
The
Media
Center
has 1 computer
operating system format, WIN XP. It
is important to be sure that the OS format is the same from disk to computer
and computer to disk.
Write your format and software information on your floppy
disk label, with your name, e-mail address and phone number.
If the disk is lost or forgotten, the MC staff can return the disk.
If there is no identification on the label, staff will open the disk to
look for a name on documents. If
there are no names within the disk, the disk will be erased after 1 week and
sold as a used disk for $.50.
Remember—disks are fragile and have a use span of about
1 month. Potential problems may be
avoided by always labeling a floppy disk with the month and year when use was
started. SAFEST way to protect your
files: Make a HARD COPY and always print your revisions.
Be sure that you have a backup of your disk and backup changes after each
modification by adding to the document’s title with “Save As” command.
ON ALL COMPUTERS, THE “MY DOCUMENTS/ STUDENT FOLDER”
IS EMPTIED EVERY WEEK
