50 Year Reunion

Members of Class of 1957 met at the Student Services building to celebrate 50 years since attending EAC.  After a mini-bus tour of the College, the classmates enjoyed a dutch-oven chicken lunch cooked by Rue Mattice at the Discovery Park Circle D Ranch in Safford.  Here they renewed old friendships and relived old times when Paul Guitteau was College President and faculty members included student favorites such as, Carl Kyser, Donald Jones, Bruce Larson, and Lawrence McDonald.  Heart-warming stories were told by class members and special memories shared by Coach Bruce Larson.

Visiting the Discovery Park Campus was a first for an EAC reunion group.  The park is an education and entertainment retreat, which emphasizes the science and culture of the Gila Valley, from mining and agriculture to space exploration.  Classmates were able to see several exhibits at the park, such as a 20” telescope, a radio telescope, an astrolabe made in 1608 and the Mertz Telescope, constructed in 1870 in Morocco. They then flew past Mt. Graham on a full-motion simulator to tour the solar system.

Later that evening, the classmates joined the graduates of 2007 at the Annual Alumni Banquet.  Entertainment was provided by Dr. Bruce Bishop and the EAC Harmony Express Quartet and the Beauty Shoppe Quartet.  Class members were recognized during commencement activities held afterwards.  A lot has changed on the campus of EAC, but memories and friendships started 50 years ago have continued to grow.
