Previous Annual Alumni Award Winners

Donald Caldwell2011 - Don Caldwell, Class of 1963, was recognized as the newest recipient of the Alumni Association’s Alumni Award.  The award, started in 1946, was also called the “Man of the Year” or “Woman of the Year” award in its early years.  It is presented to individuals who have given extraordinary service to Eastern Arizona College.  The award recognizes exemplary service, building the reputation of the College, or financial contributions that have made Eastern such a wonderful institution.
After graduating from Eastern, Don attended University of Arizona, served in the United States Army and then completed a long career in the pharmaceuticals industry.  He appreciates that he was able to get a great start at Eastern.  As a young man from Willcox, Arizona, who worked at the cotton gin to get through college, he was able to continue to a successful career.
Mr. Caldwell has provided leadership in scholarship contributions for nursing students.  These students have been able complete degrees at Eastern and become registered nurses.  One recipient will soon receive her Bachelors in Nursing.   Don has also made plans in his estate that will ensure nursing and other scholarships continue in perpetuity.  He is pleased to be able to make a difference in the future of many other students, especially those who may not realize who they are capable of becoming.
We’re delighted to announce this award to Don Caldwell and are extremely grateful for the many students whose lives will be forever changed by the opportunities made available to them through career training and the life-long benefits of education.
