designing an appropriate system of products, pricing, promotion, and

This course explores the supervisory skills needed to become a successful
supervisor. It accomplishes this
objective through coverage of the principles of management: planning, organizing, staffing,
leading, and control. Students
receive hands-on experience in many situations faced by supervisors.

Small Business Management

Offered every fall semester
Introduces the fundamentals of business management, including planning, raising
capital, using business information, managing employees, and marketing products
and services. The course is oriented toward principles needed to operate a
small business and is designed for those who may eventually have their own
businesses or for those who desire to upgrade their skills in their present
businesses.

Writing a Business Plan

Offered every fall semester
Prerequisite: CMP 101 or CMP 103 and prior or concurrent enrollment in SBM 201.
Develops skills for writing a
business plan on computer, using word processing and spreadsheet software. All areas of a business plan will be
covered, including the business market, mission statement, operations,
products/services, marketing plan and financial plan.

Small Business Initiative

This 10 week 32 hour course is designed to help small business owners write a
business plan that includes a comprehensive financial management plan, along
with operational and marketing strategies. Through lively lectures, small group
discussions, videos and plenty of hands-on exercises, you will develop your
marketing strategies, perform financial analysis, prepare your cash flow
statement and look at many operational issues.
