What is an Online course?

An online course is a recognized college class delivered completely over the Internet. By accessing a password protected web site you receive directions for proceeding through the course. What is WebStudy?

Online courses at EAC use the WebStudy Course Management system to provide a password-protected internet site where your course content is presented, assignments are completed and tests are taken. It is a secure, easy to use environment that makes online learning as easy as possible.

 

What will happen after registering for an online course?

Shortly before the semester begins, you should receive course-specific information from the instructor. Any communication from your instructor will be sent to your official monsters.eac.edu email address. See our Monster ID page if you don't know what user name and password to use.

 

When will my course be available?

You will be able to log in to your course three days before the on-campus semester begins. This will give you a chance to get in early and make sure your computer is configured correctly, check that you know your login information, and let you get familiar with the structure and schedule of your course. Your course will also be available for seven days after the end of the semester so that you can check your grades or make any final communication with your instructor.

 

When do I do my work?

The short answer is: whenever it works best for you. Most online courses give students a series of assignments and deadlines, but the actual scheduling of your study and completion of assignments and tests is accomplished at your own pace. For example, an online course can be "attended" before work, after your children are in bed, or entirely on the weekend.

How are tests handled?

Some instructors deliver all of their tests completely online within WebStudy. Others require at least some of their tests to be proctored (you may have to make arrangements for a local librarian, clergy member, high school counselor or military commanding officer to verify your identity and oversee your tests). The information provided by your instructor will contain specifics about the course's test policies.
