What's the difference between WebCT mail and regular e-mail?

You may only send mail messages to other course participants and the instructor using WebCT mail. WebCT is internal to the course and can't send or receive regular Internet e-mail.

Why can't I open my mail?

If you are having difficulties opening Mail messages in WebCT you may have a Pop-up blocker installed on your computer. It is not necessary to turn you Pop-up blocker off but you do need to configure it to allow windows to open on the eac.edu domain. For more information visit the WebCT Browser Tune-up page.

Why was I logged out of my course when I posted a mail message?

For security purposes, WebCT is set to log users out after an extended period of inactivity. The WebCT server does not consider the time spent creating messages as activity. After you click "Compose Discussion" or "Mail Message", you're "off the clock" as far as WebCT is concerned. If too much time passes and you attempt to submit your message you will be logged out and your message will be lost. If a message is going to take a long time to compose, use a word processor to write the message, then make sure you are still logged in to WebCT, then copy the message from your word processor and paste the message into the message body of your discussion posting or mail message. Using your word processor to create these messages will also allow you to spellcheck them before submitting.

Can I save my message and finish/send it later?

Yes. If you do not want to send a message immediately after you compose it, you can save it as a draft by clicking Save Draft at the bottom of the Compose Mail Message window. To send a draft mail, click on the Draft folder. Click the draft mail link and then click Edit. From the Compose Mail Message window, click Send .

How do I find the mail addresses of my classmates?

In the Compose Mail Message window, next to the "Send To" line, there is a button called Browse. Clicking the Browse button will pop up a list of your classmates, and you can choose any number of them to receive your message.

Can I forward mail to another class member?

Yes. Click on the message you would like to forward and then click Forward . The Compose Mail Message window appears. In forwarding you can change the subject, and choose the recipient (use Browse to find a list of your classmates).

Can I reread messages that I sent to someone?

Yes. Click the Mail icon. Click Outbox from the Folder List window to see a list of messages that you've sent.

What happened to the messages that I already read?

WebCT will show you only the messages that you haven't read by default. To see messages that you've previously read, click the All button.

Can I use HTML tags in my messages?

Yes. If you know how to use HTML tags, you can use them in your mail messages.

How do I attach a file to my mail message?

In the Compose Mail Message window, there is a section for attachments, much like other Mail programs. Click the Browse button and find the file you wish to attach. Then click Attach file. When you click Send, your message will be sent with the file attached.
