EAC Greenhouse dedicated last week
By Lori Dugan
Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College (EAC), The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Gila Watershed Partnership (GWP) couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful evening to celebrate the dedication of the new EAC Discovery Park Campus Greenhouse last week.
The Greenhouse, made possible by the unprecedented partnership between EAC, BLM, and the GWP, is already in full swing as seedlings are taking first root on their journey toward restoring our local desert.
Paul Anger, EAC Discover Park Campus director, greeted the guests and introduced EAC President Mark Bryce, who welcomed the crowd and talked about the partnership that made the Greenhouse possible, and what it will mean to future EAC students who quest for knowledge. Other speakers included Tim Shannon, BLM Gila District manager; Jan Holder, GWP executive director; Alex Dragotakes, Greenhouse manager and plant propagator; and Anger, who said, ““This day is the culmination of several years’ work and the result of an unprecedented cooperative agreement between Eastern Arizona College, BLM Safford Field Office, Gila Watershed Project of Arizona, and the Walton Family Foundation. It’s something every citizen can be proud of!”
President Bryce, Jan Holder, and Tim Shannon did the honors by cutting the ribbon and everyone went inside to tour the new facility, have cake, and get plants to take home.
