Thatcher, AZ—THATCHER, AZ-Drive a little out of town on a lonesome highway somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, and you will come to a filling station next to the Double Cupp Diner, run by the Pump Boys and Dinettes! From the outside, this roadside stop might not seem like much, but it surely is the center of all of the homespun fun, good eatin', and toe-tappin' music you could ever desire! This charming musical revue is packed with entertaining country music, including hits like "Highway 57," "Serve Yourself," "Be Good or Be Gone," and "Farmer Tan!"
Pump Boys and Dinettes will take center stage at Eastern Arizona College's Fine Arts Auditorium, with nightly performances at 7:30 p.m. on November 12, 13, 14, and 15. With musical direction by Patricia Jordahl, stage direction and choreography by Steven James Higginbotham, set design by William H. Nidiffer, costume designs by Timilee McNair, lighting and sound designs by Don Eller, and stage management by Kylie-Jo Soto, this dynamic production boasts a talented cast of student performers: Jordan McGrath, Zachary McGrath, Joseph Norton, and Ryan Watson will offer "auto service with a smile" as the charming Pump Boys, and Delaney Ewing and Kylie Webster will warm your hearts as the delightful Dinettes! The rockin' band will include Ted Oberg (bass), Paul Roberts (percussion), Jason Spencer (guitar), and Jordan Squires (piano).
In discussing this upcoming show, Higginbotham noted, "As a production team, we set out to ensure the audience would feel connected to the action happening onstage - as if you had walked right into one of those charming diners and service stations which line our highways - so we chose a unique and intimate configuration for our theatre space. While the structure of this show blurs the lines between a musical concert and a theatrical performance, we hope you will feel right at home in our little roadside oasis!"
Tickets can be purchased at the box office on the evening of the performance or by calling Eastern Arizona College's Ticket Office at (928) 428-8228. Advanced reservations are recommended as seating is limited. General admission is $5 per person, and full-time EAC students will be admitted free with a valid student ID. Come and support the performing arts in your community, and enjoy Eastern Arizona College's wonderful production of Pump Boys and Dinettes!
