ASEAC joins National Society for Leadership and Success

By Mary Wadsworth

Thatcher, AZ—During the course of this academic year, a new and exciting student organization has found a niche on the Eastern Arizona College campus—the National Society for Leadership and Success (NSLS). With associate chapters at colleges and universities across the nation, NSLS has a mission to “help people discover and achieve their goals.”

By participating in live broadcasts of inspiring lectures from nationally known speakers and leaders, collaborating with peers in goal-oriented networking teams, and investing in their community by planning service and outreach projects, students in NSLS find many ways to serve as leaders, help one another succeed, and encourage the organization of actions meant to better the surrounding world.

After participating in a series of sponsored events throughout the year, several students earned the honor of becoming an inducted member of NSLS. The induction ceremony was held at EAC on April 25, 2015, and the following students were inducted: Quanalita Anderson, Alice Armenta, Miranda Astrain, Sunny Cabrera, David Campbell, Yvette Cassadore, Elizabeth Dieringer, Danielle Dominguez, Camille Dyches, Daniel Gallacher, Jennifer Garner, Baylee Harper, Sarah Harvey, Felicia Hoffman, Christian Jessop, Katy Kempton, Matthew Kinas, Travis Lunt, David Lynch, Deion Peete, Heather Pollock, Argya Pragita, Kelani Purvis, Ruben Ruiz, Taylor Self, Charles Shumway, Jesse Tapia, Katrina Valencia, and Patti Wren.

The EAC chapter of the National Society for Leadership and Success is led by English faculty member, Mary Birdsall, and co-advised by theatre faculty member, Steven Higginbotham. NSLS looks forward to an exciting future on campus and continuing EAC’s rich traditions of service, leadership, and success!
