EAC’s Band Day results in big successes

Thatcher, AZ—The stadium was filled at Eastern Arizona College’s annual Band Day, held Saturday, October 22, 2016, at John Mickelson Field. The event featured 17 marching bands from high schools all over the state.
“EAC’s Band Day is an opportunity for band students from small and large high schools around the state to perform and showcase their efforts and hard work,” said Geoff DeSpain, EAC’s director of bands. “Bands also receive suggestions for growth from a panel of experts in the activity. We are privileged to host these terrific high school bands and hope these students consider the EAC band program in their future plans.”
After bands are evaluated by a panel of authorities, offering taped comments with recommendations for improvement, they are given a rating of Good, Excellent, or Superior.
High school bands receiving a Good rating were Pima, Willcox, St. Johns, and Holbrook.
Bands receiving an Excellent rating were Show Low, Snowflake, Palo Verde, Douglas, and Buckeye.
Receiving a Superior rating were bands from Thatcher, Miami, Safford, Catalina, Morenci, Burges, Chaparral, and Silver.
