Thatcher, AZ— Members of Eastern Arizona College’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter joined counterparts from around the state earlier this month at the spring Phi Beta Lambda Leadership Conference, hosted by Arizona State University. Seven of EAC’s PBL members qualified for Nationals in Baltimore, MD, to be held in June.
First-place winners were Braxton Barney in the Client Services competition, Talena Campbell in Business Communication, Ramon Flores in Networking Concepts, and Talena Campbell, Mariah Hatch, and Angelica Yslas in the team Desktop Publishing competition.
Second-place silver medalists included Brandyn Quinonez in Information Management, Sabrina Molina in Project Management, Angelica Yslas in Business Communication, and Braxton Barney in Hospitality Management.
Third-place bronze medal finishers were Ramon Flores in Computer Concepts and Brandyn Quinonez in Sports Management and Marketing.
Eastern Arizona College earned an award for the largest increase in chapter membership. Ramon Flores won the knowledge bowl in Battle of the Chapters. Talena Campbell placed in the stock market competition. Mariah Hatch, Sabrina Molina, Angelica Yslas, and Ramon Flores earned the bronze level membership award.
“It’s always fun to take our club members to the statewide meetings and see how well they will do,” said Tammy Campbell, EAC business professor and club adviser. “But it was very special and rewarding to see this group come away with so many members heading to nationals. It’s really gratifying for me!”
