The Associated Students of Eastern Arizona College and the Thatcher School District Parent Teacher Organization hosts Blayze's Family Spooktacular, a Halloween themed fund-raising event for two area children undergoing extensive medical procedures. The event will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, from 6 -8:00 p.m. at the Eastern Arizona College football stadium. The event features family fun, games, Trick-or-Treating, a silent auction and Plinko, and an Eagle's Roost burro and water bottle for $5 per child.
Blayze's Family Spooktacular will benefit Alice Nash who was born on Sept. 6 at the Mt. Graham Family Hospital. Alice was diagnosed with transposition of the greater arteries, a congenital heart defect in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed. Transposition of the greater arteries changes the way blood circulates through the body, leaving a shortage of oxygen in the blood flowing from the heart. Alice has already undergone several surgeries and will require life-long medical attention.
Proceeds from this event will also benefit Blayze Brown, a ten-year-old Thatcher resident who was diagnosed with a rare form of Epilepsy. His seizures range from absence seizures all the way up to tonic-clonic and atonic seizures. Each time Blayze has a seizure, his brain resets and he loses short-term memory. Blayze also requires extensive medical attention and his family is grateful to all who attend this event.
