THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Counseling and Student Life Departments are offering a free, half-day program designed to provide students and parents with the information that is vital to student success. The program, Orientation for Success, is scheduled for Friday, August 17, from 1–5 p.m. in the College’s Academic Programs Building, Room #118.

“All first time students, students transferring to EAC, continuing students, and parents will benefit from attending the program,” said EAC Assistant Dean of Counseling Dick Spining.

Some of the topics which will be covered include:

• Academic support programs

• On and off-campus housing

• Health and safety

• Extracurricular activities

• Counseling services

• Financial aid

Also covered during the program will be:

• Information for parents

• Information on services for students with disabilities

“We have programs in place to assist our students when they encounter problems,” explained Spining. “But if they don’t know what they are, or where to go for help, we run the risk of losing them before we are even aware that a problem exists.”

“Our hope is that the Orientation for Success program will empower our students to get the help they need in order to have a positive, successful experience at EAC and beyond,” concluded Spining.
