Discovery Park Campus extends its operating hours

SAFFORD, AZ—In order to provide more comprehensive educational and cultural offerings to the residents of the Gila Valley, Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus expanded its normal operating hours beginning August 20.
The Discovery Park Campus is now open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 4 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Admission is free.
“By expanding hours of operation, it is my hope that more people will be able to visit our exciting and inspiring educational venues,” said Harry Swanson, Dean of the EAC Discovery Park Campus. “The very best outcome from such visits would be that people become more interested in math and science and the part that EAC can play in providing relevant education to them and their loved ones.”
Swanson encourages guests to visit on Saturday evening, especially on clear nights, to participate in star gazing through the 20-inch, research-grade reflector telescope donated by the University of Arizona in the Gov Aker Observatory. “It is a wonderful instrument with many advanced technological capabilities,” explained Swanson.
In addition to these new expanded hours of operation, parts of the Campus may be open other times for specially scheduled events and classes. The public is encouraged to call the Discovery Park Campus at (928) 428-6260 for information about programs and tours of the facility.
The EAC Discovery Park Campus is located at 1651 W. Discovery Park Blvd., just off of 20th Avenue in Safford.
