EAC Dance! brings energy, passion, and drama to the Fine Arts Auditorium stage

THATCHER, AZ—Members of EAC’s ballet and theatre dance classes will come together at 7:30 p.m. on April 17-19 to the Fine Arts Auditorium stage to present EAC Dance! , a high-energy show highlighting the many forms of dance that make up a well-developed “theatre dance” group.
The show opens with a comedic prelude piece starring EAC students Jackie Barboa and Tyler Richwine. Also included in the show will be an eclectic collection of dances that feature ballet, salsa, and hip hop.
“Many of the students who take my classes are actually here on vocal or drama scholarships,” said Rachel Jacob, dance instructor and director/choreographer for the show. “But once they arrive and discover how diverse EAC shows can be and how competitive the roles are, students take my class to broaden their stage range.”
Jacob brings an impressive resumé to Eastern and her experience lends itself well to an already outstanding group of fine arts instructors. Born in South Australia, she took a scholarship offer from the Hong Kong Ballet Company at age 13. Two years later she attended MCD College of Performing Arts in Sydney where she completed a four-year scholarship in jazz, modern, contemporary, ballet, tap, and hip hop dance styles.
She’s been a professional dancer on TV, music videos, and worked under Broadway’s David Atkins. Her professional accomplishments are too numerous to list. Academically, she has obtained degrees in dance, personal training, and psychology from Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
Admission to the 7:30 p.m., April 17-19, shows is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Full-time EAC students are admitted free with ID. Tickets are on sale at the EAC Ticket Office at 428-8228 and will also be available at the door.
