EAC announces 2009 GED testing dates

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Counseling Department recently announced its 2009 General Education Development (GED) exam dates. In 2009, EAC will offer GED testing on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month, excluding January and August. Registration and payment for the December (December 3-4) testing session will need to be accomplished by November 25, and registration and payment for the February testing session, to be held February 3-4, needs to be accomplished by January 28. GED exams will also be held March 3-4, April 7-8, and May 5-6, as well as later in the year.
Eastern Arizona College’s evaluation technician, Jerri Lukens, says, “It’s more important than ever to take the GED as soon as possible, because the Arizona Department of Education has announced that a new version of the exam will be released on January 1, 2012.”
The GED consists of five portions: Language Arts-Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts-Reading, and Math. The GED Testing Service states that the scores received on the 2002 series of exams cannot be combined with the new 2012 series scores, so examinees who have begun taking the current tests must take and pass all five sections before the new tests are implemented.
“It’s important that examinees are aware of this information so that they don’t have to take all five tests over again,” says Lukens.
GED candidates must complete pre-registration paperwork, present two forms of ID, and pre-pay the $65 testing fee for full GED testing, or $10 for each retest, in order to take their GED test. All fees are paid at the EAC Fiscal Control Office, and students are instructed to bring their receipt at the time of pre-registration as verification of payment.
