EAC to offer Gardening and Landscaping this spring
By Lori Dugan THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Gardening and Landscaping class will be offered once again this spring on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until Noon. The class will gather in EAC’s South Campus Classroom #9 for lectures and will travel to various locations valley-wide to learn pruning techniques and view different landscape designs. The class will also make a field trip to the Eurofresh nurseries in Willcox to tour the world-famous tomato greenhouses.
Class instructor Randy Norton, who is also the resident director of the University of Arizona’s Safford Agriculture Center said, “This class is for anyone interested in gardening in the desert. We will cover soil, selection, care, disease, insects, turf, winter gardens, and landscape design.”
For those students who are interested, successful completion of this course will fulfill the training requirements for the University of Arizona-Graham County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program.
To sign up for Gardening and Landscaping, call EAC’s Records and Registration Office at 428-8270 and ask to register for class section #1998. Students 55 and over receive an in-state tuition waiver, and many students will be able to add this class to their existing class schedule at no extra charge.
