EAC to offer Musical Theatre I this spring
By Jeanné Clark
THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Theatre Department will offer Musical Theatre I (THC 205, section #1057) for the Spring 2009 semester, taught by Trish Jordahl, EAC’s musical theatre director and Fine Arts Division chair. ¬¬¬
“The class is a broad study of American Musical Theatre,” says Jordahl. “Its history and development will be covered as well as producing and directing a musical theatre production.”
Students in this class will be required to participate in EAC’s spring musical in some way, whether by being a part of the cast or by working backstage with sets, props, or costumes. In addition to getting hands-on experience, students will watch and discuss several musicals representative of the different time periods in the development of musical theatre tradition.
“This course would be great for anyone with an interest in musical theatre,” says Jordahl. “It doesn’t matter whether you like to participate, watch, or direct the shows, you’ll enjoy this class.”
