By Todd Haynie
THATCHER, AZ—On Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m., the dean of EAC’s Discovery Park Campus, Harry Swanson, will offer a reading of his children’s story, Easter is not for Bears, in the Jupiter Room of Discovery Park Campus.
The short story is set in the mountains of Valdez, Alaska, and follows the story of young “Bear Paw Bear” who wants to skip hibernation so he can enjoy Easter with his friends. Bonnie Bunny,” a good friend of the Easter Bunny, also shares the joy the of Easter season with Bear Paw Bear, teaching him how to dye eggs and make Easter baskets.
The focus of the program is to encourage young children to read. Each attending child will be given his or her own copy of this short story.
“Good reading makes good students,” says Swanson. “I want to help children prepare to eventually become good EAC students, and I think we can do that while having some fun.”
Best suited for kindergarten through sixth grade children, the short reading will last approximately one half hour. There is no cost for the program.
