EAC to offer Audio Production and Editing this Spring semester

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Media Communications Department will be offering a new class in Audio Production and Editing (MDC160, section #0564), to be held Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:20 p.m. This three credit class will be taught by Kelly Van Shaar and is a requirement for completing the Media Communications certificate at EAC.

“This class is great for those who have a group they would like to record as part of the class (such as a band, soloist, acappella group, or family),” says Van Shaar, “as well as for those interested in understanding sound system setup for recording or live sound reinforcement. We will also cover principles of multitrack sound editing software and give students access to college resources such as the media editing computer lab, the audio/video recording studio, and the ability to check out recording equipment.”

“We expect that this class will be of great interest to the community, as well as to students considering a career in a media production field,” continues Van Shaar. “Many people operate or use sound systems on a regular basis without really understanding the principles behind them. This class will drastically change the way students set up and use sound systems and improve the quality of the events they produce, whether live or pre-recorded.”

To register for this class, call EAC’s Records and Registration Office at 428-8270, or visit Gila Hank Online at Students age 55 and over qualify for EAC’s Senior Citizen Tuition Scholarship which covers the full cost of in-state tuition. The class will cost $130 for other Arizona Residents. However, in many cases, current EAC students can add this class to their schedule at no additional cost. Call the College to find out if you can add this class for free.
