Discovery Park Campus Lecture Series: It’s Not Magic, It’s Physics!
By Lori Dugan
Thatcher, AZ—You’ll see it but you won’t believe it. EAC’s Discovery Park Campus presents Madhuri Bapat, Eastern Arizona College physics instructor, for an amazing, free presentation: It’s Not Magic, It’s Physics! on Saturday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m.
“At first glance, magic and science seem to be opposites—one seeks to explain, the other to mystify,” says EAC Discovery Park Campus director Paul Anger. “Yet they are much more alike than you may dare think. Through magic, we rekindle our childhood fascination with what we see and with what could be—if birds can fly, why can't we? That same wonder of the world can still excite us as we use our senses to ‘see’ what is happening right in front of us even though we ‘know’ it really can’t be.”
Anger continued, “We invite you to come and enjoy an evening of testing your senses and seeing just how easily even you can be ‘fooled.’ Ms. Bapat will share astounding demonstrations of ‘magic’ and then break the ultimate code of all magicians and show you how physics is often the truth behind it all.”
There will be door prizes, Gallery tours, Space Shuttle simulator rides, and public viewing of night sky objects through the 20” Tinsley Telescope, all free of charge and minutes away from home.
