Discovery Park Campus Lecture Series continues with Clues to Dating Old Photographs

By Stephanie Caffall

Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus welcomes Bonnie Briscoe back with an interesting follow up to her presentation: Recognizing Types of Old Photographs with Clues to Dating Old Photographs, on Saturday, February 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the Jupiter Room of Discovery Park Campus. In her lecture, speaker Bonnie Briscoe, former EAC instructor and geology, astronomy, and family history enthusiast, will discuss what to look for in order to determine when and where a particular photo was taken. The lecture will also provide information on the subtle clues hidden in all photographs, and what to look for.

“I hope that this presentation will create a greater awareness of what clues are lurking in those boxes upon boxes of old photos stored in the closet or under the bed,” says Briscoe, “The participant will never look at photographs in the same way.” Again, along with the lecture, there will be a display that includes old cameras, books on the topic of dating old photographs, and a variety of photographs from different time periods that can be handled by anyone wanting to have a closer look. This presentation is suitable for all ages and families.

“You might unravel a great story or two out of this,” says Paul Anger, Discovery Park Campus director, “It may be true that a picture is worth a thousand words.”

There will be door prizes, Gallery tours, Space Shuttle simulator rides, and public viewing of night sky objects through the 20” Tinsley Telescope, all free of charge and minutes away from home.
