Thatcher, AZ—The Engineering Department will host the seventh annual Engineering Dayfor area high school students, beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011, in the College’s Main Dining Hall of the Gherald L. Hoopes Jr. Activities Center. All area high school students are invited to attend the day-long event which will be filled with individual and team competitions as well as demonstrations and lectures from experts in the field of engineering.
“Engineering Dayis a fun and competitive event meant to challenge students with hands-on science and math skills,” says Dr. Jack Bailey, EAC’s engineering instructor. “This year we will again have a series of contests on a range of skills including plane surveying, civil engineering, and basic design.” Students will participate in engineering activities and ingenuity contests with points given for each contest. Awards will be given to the individuals and teams with the most cumulative points.
“This is a great opportunity for high school students to learn about the Pre-Engineering program at EAC,” continues Bailey. “We welcome all high school students, especially juniors and seniors with strong math and science skills.”
Registration is free and lunch will be served. However, space is limited. Interested students can talk to their high school science or math teacher, or register directly with Bailey by calling or emailing him at email@example.com or (928) 428-8226.
