SBDC presents Human Resources: Hiring, Firing, and Everything In-Between

Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering, Human Resources: Hiring, Firing, and Everything In-Between, on Thursday, August 18, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the EAC Academic Programs Building, Room #114. There is a $20 registration fee for each attendee. Anyone interested in starting their own business or who is already in business and wants to learn more about human resources is encouraged to attend.
The seminar will be conducted by Mark Efros, a former human resources director for Doubletree Hotels, where he was responsible for over 40,000 employees. He also worked for several years as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator for the Federal government.
Some of the information Efros will cover includes:
• Pre-venture research
• What you need to be a legal employer
• The difference between employees and independent contractors
• Being a good employer
• The hiring process
• Performance reviews
• Disciplinary procedures
• How to handle lawsuits
