EAC Observes Constitution Day with Arizona Attorney General, Tom Horne

Thatcher, AZ— Eastern Arizona College is pleased to welcome Tom Horne, Arizona Attorney General, for its annual Constitution Day celebration scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the College’s Fine Arts Auditorium.
EAC’s Symphonic Band will perform patriotic music as a prelude to the program that will include remarks from Horne, who was elected as Arizona Attorney General in 2010.
Horne was a litigation attorney in private practice for more than 30 years. During that time he also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General, Superior Court Judge Pro Tem and Court of Appeals Judge Pro Tem. While practicing law, Horne served 24 years on the school board of Arizona’s third largest school district, ten as its president.
Horne served four years in the Arizona Legislature, was a member of the Judiciary Committee, and was chairman of the Academic Accountability Committee and served as the elected Arizona State Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2003 to 2011.
“Dr. Horne will present background information on and the importance of the Constitution in our society,” says Dr. Gary Sorensen, assistant dean of student life. “He will also be available to meet and visit with members of the audience following the program.”
