Chamber Orchestra presents
By Lexi Heninger
Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College's Chamber Orchestra will perform its annual Starlight Strings Concert, Bach-roque Time!, on Wednesday October 5, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., in the EAC Activities Center Lee Little Theater. The Concert will be conducted by EAC's orchestra director, Franklin Alvarez, and Autumn Pepper will serve as concertmistress.
The style of this year's free concert is baroque, and honors Johann Sebastian Bach and his achievements in the baroque music era. The program features six baroque musical compositions by Bach and one by Georg Philip Telemann.
"The Baroque period was a time in which earlier forms of the arts were intensified and exaggerated," says Alvarez. "Bach is largely considered to be the greatest composer of all time because of his contributions during this period. Thanks to Bach, baroque music, which would have diminished over time, remains alive today?"
Admission is free to this family-friendly event. For more information about the concert, contact Alvarez at (928) 428-8266.
