Artist Jon Stacy to display his work
By Lexi Heninger
Thatcher, AZ—A stunning sculpture exhibit by artist Jon Stacy is on display in Eastern Arizona College's Fine Arts Auditorium lobby now through May 4, 2012. Stacy has worked both collaboratively and individually on a variety of art projects over the past fifteen years. He worked at Arizona bronze Atelier in Tempe, Arizona, and was involved in the work of many world-renowned artists. He participated in several public art projects for the City of Phoenix Fine Arts Commission and other public entities. His work has been shown in many Arizona Galleries including The Step Gallery, The Icehouse, and The Rezerection Gallery. Stacy has taught art at the Museum of Northern Arizona, Mesa Fine Arts Center, and in the Clifton Public Schools. He earned a degree of Fine Arts from Arizona State University.
This free exhibit includes a variety of materials and processes. “I like to work in many different mediums, but I think that my favorite medium is metal because I like the idea of using a material we often think of as hard and unyielding and infusing it with fluidity and life,” Says Stacy. “I do enjoy and really appreciate drawing and painting and any other form of art, but when I make art for myself, I make it with fire.”
“Jon believes that an exchange of ideas can be expressed more easily by one glance at an image than by words,” says EAC art instructor Kenny Rhodes, host of the exhibit. “Come enjoy this exhibit and see his ideas of visual communication.”
