EAC’s Lee Little Theater to double as Noah’s Ark
By Rikki Lynn Woods
Thatcher, AZ—EAC’s Theatre Arts Department is proud to present Michael McLean and Kevin Kelly’s, “The Ark,” on October 17-19 and 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Activities Center – Lee Little Theatre. A matinée performance will be offered October 20, at 2 p.m.
Michael McLean and Kevin Kelly worked on this musical for years, and discovered that getting a musical “just right” is no accident. “We’ve been so grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to share different versions of this story with audiences in tents, in fairground pavilions, in community theatres from coast to coast, on Broadway stages, and in one another’s living rooms,” McLean says. “We’ve done workshops with famous Broadway writers and producers, with terrific directors and composers, and some of the finest performers anywhere, and each production has taught us something. Now, we think we’ve finally got it right and want so much to share the experience of ‘The Ark’ with you and your loved ones.”
The musical was first built around Kelly’s concept to make the inside of the theater double as the inside of Noah’s Ark and the audience as the animals.
“Our great hope is that when audiences experience ‘The Ark’ they will leave different creatures than when they came on board, just like Noah and his family,” says EAC Musical Theatre instructor, Trish Jordahl.
Tickets are $5 per person and will be available at the EAC Ticket Office, at (928) 428-8228, and at the door. Full time EAC students will be admitted free with ID.
