Technical Drafting at EAC this spring!
By Jasmine Brown
Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Drafting Department will offer Technical Drafting this spring with instructor Keith Payne. The class, DRF 108, Section #1612, Technical Drafting, will meet on Wednesdays, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and will cover the basic skills of mechanical pencil and paper drafting.
“This class teaches drafters, engineers, machinists, welders, and do-it-yourselfers how to draw out their ideas and present them clearly so anyone can understand,” says Payne. Students who take this class can expect to learn to use drafting tools such as pencils, straight edges, and compasses to create scale drawings of simple parts.
“I am hoping to bring a new light to this paper and pencil drafting. I want to be able to help students learn how an understanding of the principles in this class will help them to be better drafters and engineers in their future. This class gives students basic skills in sketching out parts so that they will be able to communicate their ideas in a clear and understandable way to others. Anyone who is going into architecture or mechanical drafting will be able to appreciate what the computer does for them in CAD classes and jobs,” says Payne
Students wishing to enroll in Technical Drafting may call EAC’s Records and Registration Office at 428-8270, or register online at www.eac.edu. Regular tuition fees apply for this course.
