Now is the time to complete your GED
By Lori Dugan
Thatcher, AZ—The GED (General Equivalency Degree) Testing Service is releasing a new version of the GED Test on January 1, 2014. Test-takers who are currently in the process of completing the battery of GED tests, must complete the current exam series by December 31, 2013. Candidates who do not complete the current series will have to start the GED over again in 2014. Scores from the 2002 Series will not be combined with scores for the new assessment.
Here is a summary of the changes to the 2014 test:
•The tests will be more difficult and challenging in terms of content knowledge in the five testing areas (language arts/writing, language arts/reading, math, science, and social studies).
•The tests will require at least minimal computer and keyboarding skills. Paper-and-pencil testing will not be available.
•The cost of taking the test (currently $80 at EAC), will increase to approximately $150.
Students interested in completing the GED test should:
