Annual Star Party scheduled
By Lina Kelly
Thatcher, AZ—EAC’s Discovery Park Campus and The Desert Skygazers Astronomy Club are pleased to announce their annual Star Party to be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., in the “Grand Kiva” at the EAC Discovery Park Campus. This free activity is open to the public and is suitable for all ages.
“Members of the Desert Skygazers will have several of their best telescopes set up for public viewing of a variety of celestial objects,” says Discovery Park Campus Director, Paul Anger. “Visitors will be invited to view interesting videos on the Hubble Space Telescope and Mt. Graham’s Large Binocular Telescope.” Members of the Desert Skygazers will also be on hand to demonstrate the proper way to use personal telescopes and binoculars, and to share their secrets to successful night-time sky viewing.
“This is a great chance to dust off that old telescope and bring it out to the Star Party to rediscover the universe and remember what a treasure it really is. Don’t forget to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and we’ll be outside under the stars, so bring along a light jacket as it still gets a little chilly at night,” concluded Anger.
