Student Employment
(Work Study)

Eastern Arizona College currently administers two student employment programs:

  • Federal Work Study (FWS) which is funded by the Federal government
  • Institutional Work Study (IWS) which is funded by EAC

The purpose of work study programs is to help students who have a demonstrated financial need contribute financially toward their college education; and to assist the college in performing duties that do not require full-time employees.

Work Study is treated as any other job, but it does have some differences:

  • Employers schedule work study around your class schedule
  • Most positions are located on-campus, however there are some off-campus community jobs
  • The money earned from work study is not counted towards your next year’s contribution for financial aid
  • You do not need to have specific skills to get a work study job, unless specified by work study job supervisor
  • Work study job experience provides usable job skills and beneficial work habits

Work Study Application Steps

1. Stop by or call the Financial Aid Office to verify if you are eligible for a work study job.

2. View the current work-study job openings.

3. Apply to the chosen department(s) by turning in a work study application to the supervisor listed or emailing it to the supervisor as an attachment.

4. Once you have been hired, you will need to view the FERPA training presentation.
After viewing the training, a copy of your application and a signed FERPA confidentiality agreement must be turned in to the Financial Aid Office.

5. Complete an employee payroll packet at the Fiscal Control Office.

6. Arrange work schedule with supervisor. Do not begin working until you have confirmed that your supervisor has received approval from the payroll administrator.
